New Planning Applications Data

GDP Planning Applications

Today Global DataPoint is launching a new content stream looking at Local Planning Applications information for digital and mobile platforms.

Data for all planning applications from each of the 412 councils in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland is collated on a daily basis. The diverse and complex data is aggregated, indexed and organized into consistent fields and attributes including geocoded addresses, proposal, status, decision and dates for neighbourhood consultations.

Global DataPoint feels that the move to digital provision of this local data will be of benefit to councils, local residents and commercial entities such as property websites and construction databases; providing a uniform system to compare councils within a user friendly interface.

Global DataPoint launches hosted site for Kent Online

Kent Online today launched its new What’s On events service. The events search engine is developed and hosted by Global DataPoint. This turn-key solution delivers a comprehensive, rich and tailored local events and ‘what’s on’ channel for the Kent region and neighbouring counties.

The site comprises more than 10,000 local events including community and neighbourhood listings. As well as attractions, exhibitions, touring bands and theatre productions, the What’s On section has a comprehensive cinema listings guide.

Global DataPoint can provide fully hosted and designed white-label websites for a range of geographical regions.
Dominic Taylor (Managing Director of GDP) said “I’m very pleased to supply this established regional media company with this great service. The project and technical teams from GDP and KM Group have worked closely together to launch this service to customers in Kent.”

About KM Group
KM Group (formerly Kent Messenger Group) is an independent, family-owned media company serving the people and local communities of Kent and Medway.

Since the turn of the century, Kent’s most well established publisher has grown to become a leading multimedia company. Using print, broadcasting and the Internet to satisfy the needs and wants of both consumer and advertiser.

Social Media and Multimedia additions

Facebook and Twitter weblinks for entertainment venues have been added to the Global DataPoint database. From stadium venues such as Capital FM Arena Nottingham to London’s Koko, thousands of fans are following their favourite venues on social networking sites. These new attributes help media and entertainment listings sites to add new functionality and usability to their services. They can be integrated into mobile apps as well.

It’s not just the youth sector that is well served with social networking sites. More traditional and established venues are realising the benefits of communicating with their visitors through these services. Tourist attractions such as Oxford Castle and cultural institutions like the National Gallery both have active twitters streams and Facebook groups. Global DataPoint now offers these links in our xml data schema for any existing or prospective customer.

These new attributes are in addition to the other multimedia components in the data feed. These include video links, film trailers, music videos from muzu.tv, Ticketmaster affiliate links and images and a wide range of venue and event images.

Tom Matchett (Account Manager at GDP) commented, “These social media components show our commitment to staying at the forefront of content and data trends. Facebook and Twitter are essential to establishing and retaining audience for any entertainment and media brand.”
