New Clients Announced By Global DataPoint

Global DataPoint, the UK’s leading provider of entertainment event listings content, is pleased to announce new client partnerships with leading UK brands.

In addition to its existing relationships with major media groups such as Global Radio, Trinity Mirror Group Plc and Tourist Boards such as Marketing Birmingham and Visit London, Global DataPoint will now also supply an additional four new clients with its highly comprehensive datasets.

In the media sector, GDP is now working with quad-play pioneer Virgin Media,  local media specialists NWN Media and the hyper-local site network The Activ Group.  In addition, to these exciting wins in the media sector, Global DataPoint has further expanded into the Tourism sector and has been chosen by Visit Scotland to provide it with the very best in ‘what’s on’ data.

Rate My Area (www.ratemyarea.com) are expanding their coverage from Ireland to include the UK, bringing their exciting proposition to a much wider community. Rate My Area chose Global DataPoint as the provider of Event and What’s On data for this expansion following close analysis of the depth, breadth and granularity of our coverage in the specified areas. Following the acquisition of GCap, the UK’s premier radio company Global Radio now boasts extra powerhouse radio brands such as LBC, Galaxy and the Heart network. Manchester Evening News (Guardian Media Group) partner with GDP

Global DataPoint are delighted to announce Manchester Evening News Media as their latest partner in the provision of comprehensive local Event and What’s On listings Information. With the imminent re-launch of the legendary City Life brand, MEN media needed a supplier who understood the need for detailed local coverage. Matthew Davies, City Life Product Manager said:

XFM revamp launches with Global DataPoint Music Listings

Gcap Media have just unveiled the re-vamped XFM website http://www.xfm.co.uk, incorporating a host of excellent new features enhancing the user experience of this cutting edge radio brand. One of the cornerstones of the re-vamp is the inclusion of searchable Music Event information. Global DataPoint are proud to have been chosen as the supplier for this integral element of the recent overhaul.

The Gigs and Tickets section is searchable by artist/band or browseable through the calendar. Headline acts at major UK music venues, record shop appearances and local gig nights for unsigned bands all feature, as well as a listing of all the major music festivals of the summer.

As well as XFM, Global DataPoint has also been selected as the supplier of comprehensive events and What’s On data for the Capital, Classic FM and One Network brands.

Global DataPoint matches locations with Local Data Company

Global DataPoint can now offer a more comprehensive service across the UK. In addition to the largest dataset of entertainment and events listings, clients can now order photo images of the locations as well. This service is available through Global DataPoint’s co-operation with the Local Data Company.A matching process was completed to link the entertainment venues in the UK Events Listings database with corresponding points of interest (POI) records from the Local Data Company and the Market Location Database covering businesses across the UK.The co-operation also allows customers to add shops, restaurants, pubs and bars and local businesses to enhance the data offered by Global DataPoint. This will give websites and digital services the opportunity to have a full hyper-local ‘What’s On’ and ‘Where To Go’ service.

Existing customers receiving Local Data Company venues can now integrate Global DataPoint’s UK listings without the worrying about duplication or unique matching as this has been done for them. LDC service a range of sectors from directory companies and estate agents to city guides and mobile search. Clients include Google, Touch Local, Yell.com and the AA.

Trinity Mirror Regionals to receive Entertainment Listings from Global DataPoint

Newspapers such as the Liverpool Echo, Birmingham Post and Newcastle’s Evening Gazette will soon be able to publish the most comprehensive events listings for their regions. All 200 newspapers and more than 300 companion newspaper websites, ultra-local sites such as Liverpool.com from the Trinity Mirror Regionals division will be supplied Global DataPoint’s feed of events data.

Global DataPoint will supply content on cinema times, theatre productions, art and museum exhibitions as well as gig and club listings. Tourist attractions, festivals and special events for families will be included in the data feed. Trinity Mirror will move from their previous supplier of entertainment listings PA Entertainment to Global DataPoint after a detailed evaluation of the degree of depth and breadth of events coverage for all regions of the UK for this integral element of their market leading service.

UK DataPoint goes Global!

As of January 1st 2008, we changed our name from UK DataPoint to Global DataPoint. As UK DataPoint we held the most comprehensive database of UK Events and Venues. In addition to cementing our position regarding UK Events we are expanding our operations to include Global Arts Events and What’s On information and the change in name reflects this improved degree of comprehensiveness.

In addition we are adding a Transport Events division to collect and collate road closures and traffic related data in the UK. We are working with some of the biggest names in global mapping and satellite navigation to introduce these ground breaking data sets.

Tom Matchett

Tom Matchett joins Global DataPoint as Account Manager from his previous role as Business Development Executive at CCA Direct Dialog. The UK division of the CCA International group is one of Europe’s leading providers of outsourced contact centre services and CRM solutions. Having worked with leading global brands in both a management and new business capacity he will now use his expertise to manage existing client accounts and develop new business opportunities.

Tom was educated at the University of Kent and graduated with a 2:1 in Film Studies, followed by a Masters degree in History and Theory of Art specialising in auto-destructive art and avant-garde light projections where much of his thesis research was primary and drawn from consultations with leading practitioners in these fields.

Tom said of his new position, ‘I’m very excited to join such a cutting edge company and work with some of the major media brands in the marketplace’.
