About Us

Formerly UK DataPoint, Global DataPoint was established in 2005. Our core business is to collate and licence syndicated information and services to publishers, new media and mobile services. We provide a constantly updated XML feed of Global Art events listings, UK-wide event listings and traffic data, suitable for integration for mobile, new media, press and publishing companies. Global DataPoint Ltd is part of the Science Navigation Group of independent companies that collaborate closely with each other to publish and develop information and services for professional and consumer markets.

The following vacancy is currently available:

EDITORIAL ASSISTANT (Ref: GDP/EA)

The position will involve editorial administrative duties, proofreading, some copywriting, events research, taking email and telephone enquiries and liaising with offshore data entry teams and translators.The successful candidate will be enthusiastic and highly motivated, have excellent communication - preferably with second-language skills, editorial and IT skills, work well in a team environment, be highly organised, interested in art and show an excellent attention to detail.

Previous editorial/administrative experience and a special interest in the arts would be of advantage but are not essential. Applicants should be aware that this position is largely administrative, although there is scope for future development.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

· Ensure information on events at art venues across the world is received on a regular basis.
· Manage offshore data input teams ensuring targets are met and information input is accurate.
· Build relationships and contacts with major suppliers of art event information.
· Write/edit short descriptions.
· Research designated art categories, mediums and regions.
· Ensure information supplied to customers is up to date, comprehensive and supplied within deadlines.

Person Specification:

· Confident telephone manner.
· Excellent written and verbal communication skills are essential.
· Ability to write and edit succinct descriptions of events.
· Computer literacy with experience of Microsoft Office packages including Excel, Outlook and Word.
· Good Internet research skills.
· Experience of database entry and management.
· Excellent organisational skills are required with ability to prioritise and work under pressure.
· Attention to detail and excellent proofreading skills.
· Must be able to work to tight deadlines and react quickly to changing priorities.
· A good team player.
· Ability to work on own initiative.
· Ability to juggle multiple tasks.
Must display an interest in culture and art.
